{{eczema}}
The [tag]essential fatty acids[/tag] and vitamin E addresses the skin and cells moisture levels. EFA’s are responsible for maintaining the cells moisture. This is important because the skin’s moisture barrier serves as a protective barrier against the elements (free radicals). Some of the food sources of ?-3 and ?-6 fatty acids are fish and shellfish, flaxseed (linseed), soya oil, canola (rapeseed) oil, hemp oil, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, leafy vegetables, and walnuts.
[tag]EFA[/tag] deficiency is definitely a factor that has to be addressed in eczema sufferers; however, it is not the only deficiency an [tag]eczema[/tag] manifestation represents. As a result, people who focus solely on replenishing EFA deficiency, (at the exclusion of the other deficiencies), end up frustrated in the healing process. In their frustration, they then reject the importance of EFA replenishment regarding eczema treatment. EFA replenishment is still essential to eczema healing; it just needs to be done in conjunction with nutritional replenishment of the various other vitamin/mineral deficiencies eczema represents.
A friend of mine has recently bought some good quality organic [tag]flaxseed oil[/tag] and includes it in her young son’s daily beverage. After a couple of days, her son’s eczema disappeared. Obviously, it will take much longer for you if you have eczema for a longer period of time, but it’s worth a try! Another good supplement is Omega 3 Cod liver oil, which provides even more comprehensive EFA replenishment than the flax oil.The reason that you would be taking the flax oil would be for the supplementation of your essential fatty acids. They are important, just as vitamin E is, in retaining cell moisture. Your essential fatty acids and vitamin E sources share many of the same whole food sources.

From the list of food sources that I’ve given you, there are probably others that I’ve overlooked. Nonetheless, becoming familiar with the nutrients that food provides the human body goes a long way in making us more health conscious and aware of the benefits, (or lack of benefits in some cases), of the foods we consume.
